Apple’s Vision Pro 2 AR headset will receive two key improvements over the current-gen model

Apple is working on a new version of its Vision Pro 2 mixed reality headset that will feature two key improvements over the original model, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported.

According to Gurman, the Vision Pro 2 will be lighter and cheaper than the Vision Pro, which weighs 1.5 kg and costs $3,499. He also said that Apple plans to release another version of the mixed reality headset that will be wired to Mac computers for ultra-low latency.

«The idea is to create an ultra-low-latency system for streaming data to a Mac display or connecting to high-end enterprise applications. Some customers use Vision Pro to view images during medical procedures or interact with flight simulators. These are two areas where the user needs minimal latency — something that a completely wireless system cannot provide,” Gurman said in a statement.

It’s unclear when exactly Apple might launch one of these headsets. The original Vision Pro went on sale in February last year. Gurman’s post also mentions that Apple CEO Tim Cook has made full-fledged augmented reality glasses a top priority. However, such a product is likely “many years away.”
