Apple withdrew a lawsuit against a former engineer who “drained” data on Vision Pro

The lawsuit against the audit was filed in March 2024. In the statement, Apple accused him of disseminating closed information about “more than a half -dozen of various products and a company policy”, including development in the field of spatial calculations, information about an unpublished application and data on the number of employees. It is assumed that the Aud handed over this information to the journalist The Wall Street Journal, who soon published an article about the not yet released or even announced Journal, reports The Verge.

However, on February 6, 2025, Apple filed an application with the Supreme Court of California, which states that the parties reached an agreement. On the same day, the audit published a text in which he pleaded guilt and expressed regrets of his deed.

«I have worked for almost eight years as an engineer-programmer at Apple. During this time, I had access to confidential information, including not yet presented products and functions. But instead of maintaining this data a secret, I made a mistake, sharing them with journalists. Then I did not realize that this would become a deep and expensive lesson for me. Hundreds of professional connections that I built for years were destroyed. My successful career as an engineer was in jeopardy, and probably I could not restore it. The leak was a bad idea. I sincerely apologize to my former colleagues, ”Aud wrote.

Initially, Apple was determined to bring the matter to the end and bring the ex-employee liable for violating the privacy policy, but now the parties have settled the conflict. The terms of the agreement between them are not specified.
