Apple will release the first foldable iPhone in 2026 – it will be a thin clamshell styled like the Galaxy Z Flip

Apple continues to develop a folding iPhone – it will fold horizontally like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and will probably be released in 2026, The Information has learned.

Apple’s work on foldable phones has been rumored for a long time, and in February there were reports that the company had produced two early prototypes. According to the latest information, the company has chosen one of the options: the device has received the internal designation V68, “the idea has gone beyond the conceptual stage,” and is now being “developed with suppliers,” The Information reports.

Now Apple is trying to smooth out the crease that appears on the smartphone screen when unfolded, and is trying to make the device thinner. This information was confirmed the day before by the Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, which revealed similar details about Apple’s plans to release a folding phone. Earlier it also became known that the company is working on a MacBook-like device with a folding screen, and its deliveries could begin in 2026.

And next year, Apple intends to radically update the iPhone by adding a mechanical diaphragm to the camera – this will help achieve the effect of depth of field when shooting with the main subject in focus and a blurred background, The Information added. In addition, the company intends to release a radically thin version of the iPhone.
