Apple will open a laboratory in China to improve the quality and reliability of future iPhones, iPads and others

A new Apple research laboratory will soon be opened in China, where specialists from the American company will work on improving the quality and reliability of products such as the iPhone, iPad and Apple Vision, etc., writes 9to5Mac, citing local media. The company announced plans to open a laboratory in Shenzhen in March this year.

At the time, Apple said it was expanding its presence in China with new applied research labs, its latest move to leverage the country’s manufacturing and R&D capabilities to make better products.

Shenzhen was chosen because many of Apple’s suppliers are based here, and the new laboratory will collaborate with them, including to test new materials and production technologies. According to the South China Morning Post, Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams met yesterday in Shenzhen with Meng Fanli, secretary of the city’s Communist Party of China organization. During the meeting, Williams said Shenzhen is an important market for Apple, which intends to deepen cooperation with the city.

Additionally, according to Shenzhen Daily, an Apple executive visited the Apple Store at Yitian Holiday Plaza in Nanshan and met with internet celebrity Du Junming to watch a movie shot using the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The launch date for the new laboratory is still unknown. With its commissioning, the number of Apple research and development centers in China will increase to four.
