Apple, in cooperation with Sony, will add a supplemented reality headset Vision Pro Support for PlayStation VR2 controllers this year. This was announced by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman) in the fresh issue of Power On.
In December last year, it became known that Apple and Sony in early 2024 agreed to cooperate to ensure the compatibility of PlayStation VR2 controllers with Vision Pro. Sony has been working on the implementation of this task for several months. It was also reported that Apple is negotiating with third -party developers so that they integrate the support of controllers into their projects for Vision Pro.
Earlier, Gourmet noted that Vision Pro is already supporting PS5 and Xbox controllers, but they are not suitable for virtual reality, since the accurate control of VR games requires six degrees of freedom (6DOF).
According to Mark Gurman, now “everything indicates that the project is still in development”, and its launch is expected at the end of this year as part of Visionos 3 update. Support for PlayStation VR2 controllers will expand the possibilities of Vision Pro, making the headset more attractive for gamies and increasing the accuracy of control in the operating system.
According to the 9TO5MAC resource, this cooperation should improve the game experience on the Apple Vision Pro, but it will not yet be known whether it will lead to a significant expansion of the game library and the growth of sales of the headset.
