Apple has no plans to release the Vision Pro 2 augmented reality headset this year, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman reported in the latest issue of the Power On column. The journalist admitted that Apple could introduce the Vision Pro 2 this year before releasing next year, but everything indicates that the new version of the headset will not appear until 2026. Gurman previously predicted that the device could be released between the fall of 2025 and the spring of 2026.
According to Gurman, in the short term, Apple is focused on creating a cheaper headset and is now “accelerating” its development. This headset, codenamed N107, is unlikely to go into mass production in 2025, but its release is not far off. At the same time, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the release of a more affordable version of the augmented reality headset has been postponed until at least 2027.
According to Mark Gurman, in addition to the N107 headset, Apple is actively exploring other ideas. Among them are the prospect of smart glasses similar to Ray-Ban from Meta✴ Platforms, or a wearable device reminiscent of AirPods with cameras. All these devices will appear no earlier than 2025, but this year should be decisive in their development, writes 9to5Mac.
We add that earlier there were reports that Apple had reduced the production of Vision Pro due to weak demand.
