Apple has officially released the Apple TV app for Android smartphones and tablets. Users of this operating system can now watch Apple TV+, subscribe to the MLS Season Pass, and manage subscriptions directly through Google Play, 9to5Mac reports. The app is already available on Google Play and supports devices starting with Android 10 and newer.

The long-awaited app supports the core Apple TV features that users are familiar with from Apple devices, including the Continue Watching queue, downloading for offline viewing, and search. Playback progress is synced across all user devices, allowing you to, for example, start watching on your TV and continue on your smartphone. The interface is visually minimalistic, and on tablets it is adapted to the sidebar.
It’s important to note that the app is limited to Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, and MLB Friday Night Baseball content. iTunes Store purchases on Android are not reflected, and users will not be able to access their previously purchased library. Notifications and the ability to stream video to other devices via Google Cast are also not supported. However, this is the first full-fledged Apple TV client for Android mobile devices, whereas previously users had to make do with the web version.
At the same time, the Apple TV app for Google TV has been updated. Users can now subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass directly through Google Play Billing. And for those new to Apple TV+, a seven-day free trial is available through the Android app.
