Apple told what part of the users switched to iOS 18 and iPados 18

More than three quarters (76 %) of all iPhone all released and implemented over the past four years have been operating iOS 18, another 19 % under iOS 17, and the remaining 5 % with earlier versions of the software platform. Of all the iPhone, which are still used, IOS 18 accounts for 68 % of devices, 19 % on iOS 17, and 13 % on earlier versions, Apple said.

Among tablet computers, the disposition is somewhat different: 63 % of the iPad devices that have been released over the past four years are on the iPados 18, the iPados 17 share is 27 %, and 10 % fall on earlier versions. If we take into account all the iPad currently operating, then 53 % of devices, 28 % on iPados 17, and 19 % on earlier versions.

Apple collected these metrics based on data from devices that made transactions in the App Store as of January 21. The distribution of shares is very similar to the indicators that iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 had a year ago, from which we can conclude that owners of Apple devices are updating them according to a similar pattern. A year ago, 76% of iPhones released in the previous four years, and 66% of all iPhones, ran the latest OS; 61% of iPads introduced in the previous four years and 53% of all iPads.

Google has ceased to publish the monthly statistics of Android versions in October 2018 – in this ecosystem, the transition to the latest versions of the platform is much slower, because it depends on manufacturers of devices. Google itself is only responsible for the gadgets of the Pixel series.
