The journalist considers Apple’s plan to update the MacBook Pro with the M5 chip “unexpected”, noting that the laptop will be presented to the general public around the same time as the presentations of previous versions of the device. Recall that the MacBook Pro with the M3 chip in 2023 and M4 in 2024 was presented in October. Apparently, the updated MacBook Pro with the M5 chip will appear in October of this year.

The upcoming hardware update does not imply any changes to the design of the device. According to Gurman, more significant changes await the MacBook Pro in 2026. The laptop is expected to receive a new M6 chip, an OLED display, and a thinner case. The journalist notes that no major changes in the design of the laptop should be expected before that.
