Yesterday, the Apple smartphone lineup took another step in its evolutionary development; the iPhone 16 family was officially presented, which means that it’s time for the company to reconsider the range of devices of this type offered. The iPhone 13 family of smartphones fell victim to the optimization of the product line, but the iPhone SE, awaiting an update in the spring, has now been assigned the role of the most affordable.

The latter is now in its third generation, with the fourth due to be introduced next spring. Currently, the iPhone SE costs $429 and is the most affordable Apple smartphone you can buy new. Next by a wide margin is the iPhone 14 at $599, and the iPhone 14 Plus is another $100 more expensive. Last year’s iPhone 15 family is also offered in a similar assortment, occupying the positions of $699 and $799, respectively. At the moment, these are the cheapest Apple smartphones with a unified USB-C port.
Finally, Apple’s new family of smartphones starts at $799 for the iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro models share the standard $100 in ascending price order, but the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max is offered for $1,199. If we return to Apple’s most affordable smartphone, the iPhone 13 line is being withdrawn from sale, and next spring the fourth generation iPhone SE will have to offer the iPhone 14 body in combination with a 6.1-inch OLED display, a new A18 processor and a USB port.
