Apple may release smart glasses and AirPods with cameras in 2027

Apple plans to release new devices with visual environmental recognition functions. New products may include smart glasses similar to those created in collaboration between Meta✴ and Ray-Ban, as well as AirPods with cameras. These products are not expected to be released until 2027, if at all.

According to the report, Apple is seeking to recoup its multibillion-dollar investment in developing computer vision technologies for Apple Vision Pro by introducing them into other products. The first step in this direction was adding AI-powered visual recognition to the iPhone 16 to control the camera, and the next step, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, could be integrating the technology into glasses.

It is important that such glasses will not become a full-fledged augmented reality device with a display, but rather smart glasses with built-in cameras, speakers and microphones, that is, analogues of Meta✴ and Ray-Ban glasses, which have become quite popular. Speaking of price, for example, Meta✴ offers its glasses starting at $300, although more expensive models are also available depending on the frame.

In addition, Apple continues to work on AirPods with cameras, which were previously announced. True, it is not yet entirely clear why such a device might be needed if you already have glasses with cameras. At first glance, the idea of placing external cameras in headphones may seem like a bad idea, but Apple continues to experiment with this form factor to implement visual recognition functions.
