Apple has begun actively testing four new computers based on the new M4 chips. By the end of the year, the company will update the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac – they will run on the latest generation processors, and will present them approximately in November. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman spoke about this.

The four tested computers run on Apple M4 processors in the basic version, that is, without the Pro, Max or Ultra prefixes in the name. Three machines are equipped with a chip with 10-core CPU and GPU; the fourth has a chip with an 8-core central processor and graphics, and the Apple M4 has not yet appeared on the market in this configuration. All four updated Macs on the Apple M4 have 16 or 32 GB of unified memory on board. The younger versions of the latest iPad Pro with 256 and 512 GB of permanent memory, we recall, are equipped with chips with a 9-core central and 10-core graphics processors; older ones with 1 and 2 TB drives come with a 10-core CPU and GPU—some new Macs will get this option.
The analyst’s report does not mention the M4 Pro or M4 Max, which are expected in the more expensive Mac mini, 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. They will have more cores and memory. It is not yet clear whether Apple intends to limit itself to computer models on the basic M4 in the near future, or whether they are preparing models on the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max, which have not yet been seen in developer magazines. Previously, Mr. Gurman reported that a new, more compact Mac mini, which is in development, will be available with M4 and M4 Pro chips.
