Apple is ready to equip the entire line of iPhone 17 smartphones with advanced OLED displays

The display specs in the existing iPhone 16 lineup are the feature that separates the base models from the more expensive ones. The Pro and Pro Max series smartphones are equipped with OLED panels with a high refresh rate, which makes scrolling more comfortable. Next year, similar features may appear in younger models of the iPhone 17 line.

This was reported by MacRumors with reference to one of the sources on the Chinese social network Weibo, which has a good “track record” in terms of the reliability of published information about Apple’s plans. The original source only claims that the base iPhone 17 models will receive a high display refresh rate. The Verge resource develops the topic, pointing to early publications about the possibility of using LTPO panels for all models in the iPhone 17 line.

There is a possibility that the conventional iPhone 17 Plus will be replaced with the thin iPhone 17 Slim model; in this case, it should also receive support for ProMotion – a variable display refresh rate that combines smooth scrolling with energy efficiency. The unification of displays can be compensated by introducing differentiation based on other characteristics such as memory capacity. The entire iPhone 17 line may also receive a 24-megapixel front camera instead of the current 12-megapixel, and for the first time these smartphones will feature a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip of Apple’s own design, replacing the Broadcom product.
