Apple is in the “late stages of testing” of a new version of the iPad Pro tablet based on the M5 chip, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. The M5 iPad Pro will be one of the first devices to feature Apple’s M5 chip, he said.

According to 9to5mac, the new tablet is a more advanced version of the iPad Pro, based on the M5 chip. Apple released an updated iPad Pro last year with an OLED screen, a thinner body, and an updated camera system. According to the journalist, the new M5 iPad Pro models received the code names J817, J818, J820, and J821.
«The company plans to make the iPad Pro one of the first devices to include the next-generation M5 chip. New versions of this model, codenamed J817, J818, J820 and J821, are in late-stage testing at Apple and are being prepared for production in the second half of this year,” the newsletter said.
Gurman also wrote that Apple has already started working on a new M6 chip with a modem of its own design, the release of which will not take place before 2027. He added that the company is also working on new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with M5, the design of which is not going to change.
