Apple introduced Watch Series 10 with a larger display, thinner body and titanium body

Apple has just announced the Watch Series 10, its new smartwatch. The debut of the watch took place exactly ten years after Apple introduced the first Apple Watch – the world saw the company’s first smart watch on September 9, 2014. According to the company, Series 10 has become the thinnest Apple Watch in the product’s history.

Apple Watch Series 10 has an updated display, which is 30% larger than previous models – up to 46 mm. The screen also has increased brightness and energy efficiency, and expanded viewing angles thanks to the use of a more high-end screen. The new watch will be available in polished aluminum cases designed specifically for the Series 10, in black, silver, and rose gold. There will also be a version in a titanium case in gray, dark gray and gold, The Verge reports.

At just 9.7mm thick, Apple Watch Series 10 is Apple’s thinnest smartwatch ever. To achieve such compactness, Apple engineers had to make a number of design changes, including the use of a new metal back cover.

Apple Watch Series 10 has the new S10 processor and boasts the fastest charging of any Apple Watch. According to the company, in just 30 minutes the watch charges up to 80%, which is comparable to the Pixel Watch 3. Apple also paid attention to sound quality – Series 10 provides clearer phone calls and the ability to play music through the watch speaker.

Speaking of medical features, the Apple Watch Series 10 can detect sleep apnea, a disorder in which breathing constantly stops and increases in speed during sleep. The Watch Series 10 can detect when a user has sleep apnea based on its sleep tracking feature. As with the new Vitals app in watchOS 11, users will have to wear their Apple Watch while sleeping for several days before being diagnosed with sleep apnea.

Apple Watch Series 10 goes on sale September 20, priced at $399 for the GPS-only version or $499 for the cellular version. We are talking about more compact versions with a 42 mm screen and an aluminum body. The larger model with a 46mm display starts at $429. The titanium version will cost from $699.

Interestingly, what started as a niche accessory has grown into an important product category for Apple, with its wearables, home and accessories business, which includes the Apple Watch and AirPods, overtaking the iPad and Mac in sales. According to International Data Corporation, Apple became the leader in wearable device shipments in the first quarter of 2024.

In recent years, Apple has expanded the Apple Watch line with the release of SE and Ultra models, but the design of the flagship watch has not changed as much. Last year, the Series 9 and Ultra 2 introduced the Double Tap feature, which allows you to control the interface by double tapping with your thumb and forefinger. Previously, in Series 8, a temperature sensor was added. However, the last major design change for the flagship Apple Watch came in 2021 with the release of Series 7, which received a larger screen.
