As part of Apple’s It’s Glowtime event held today, hardware and software new products were presented, one of which was the updated Watch Ultra 2 smart watch. The device became available for pre-order immediately after the presentation at a price of $799, and the first deliveries will begin on September 20.
For the first time since the introduction of the Watch Ultra about two years ago, this version of Apple’s smartwatch is available in more than one color option. In addition to the appearance of a version in matte black color Satin Black, Watch Ultra 2 received support for sleep apnea detection. For this, a built-in accelerometer and special algorithms are used that track the movements and positions of the user’s body during sleep.
Watch Ultra 2 will receive watchOS 11, which includes Smart Stack – a set of widgets and tools for tracking the user’s body condition. Along with this, the Vitals app will debut, which will tell you how typical key metrics such as breathing rate or sleep duration are for the user.
Announced in 2022, the original Watch Ultra differed from the base version by having a larger screen, a thicker case, and a customizable Action Button switch. Last year, Apple released the Watch Ultra 2 with a brighter screen and a new S9 chip, which allowed the Siri voice assistant to be used on the device.
This year’s model hasn’t changed much, but it still remains the best battery life of any Apple smartwatch. It’s also the most expensive version of the company’s smartwatch, primarily aimed at professional athletes who spend a lot of time training on the streets and for whom a brighter screen and a larger battery may be important.
