Apple today held its It’s Glowtime event, during which it introduced the iPhone 16 family of smartphones. In addition to the flagship iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models, the basic iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus were also presented. The new products have received an updated design with fresh design for the rear cameras, new controls and more saturated colors. The electronics and software have also been updated – the iPhone will now have a lot of AI.

The design of the iPhone 16 largely follows the design of the iPhone 15: flat edges, glass on the back, a Dynamic Island cutout for the front camera and Face ID sensors, and a USB-C port for charging/data transfer. While the return to vertical rear lenses may seem like an odd reiteration of a design element that Apple abandoned, the move makes sense to improve the spatial video support seen on the Apple Vision Pro.
