Apple has changed the internal layout of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, making it much easier to replace the battery. The company’s official press release states that the devices have been “redesigned” for easy battery replacement, as well as increased performance and improved heat dissipation.

During the event dedicated to the launch of new devices, Apple focused on the new design of the iPhone 16, which promotes faster and more stable performance, reports 9to5Mac. “We’ve combined the powerful performance and efficiency of the A18 chip with new system optimizations, including design related to device thermal management. We’ve updated the motherboard, centralizing chip placement and optimizing the surrounding architecture. They also added a thermal substructure for heat dissipation, made from 100% recycled aluminum. As a result, iPhone 16 now provides higher performance, including in games,” company representatives noted.

Earlier it was reported that Apple plans to make it easier to replace iPhone batteries using a new electrically induced peel-off technology. It is unclear whether Apple used this technology in the iPhone 16. This will become known later when the first teardowns of the new devices appear.

Notably, this change comes as the European Union plans to introduce a new rule in 2025 that will force Apple to make it easier to replace iPhone batteries. There are a number of exceptions that may ultimately determine whether this regulation will impact Apple, but the company has made this change to the iPhone 16 now.
