Apple, along with TikTok, removed a dozen other ByteDance apps from the App Store

In accordance with the decision of the US Supreme Court, the short video service TikTok stopped working in the country on January 19. Against this background, Apple published a statement containing a list of applications that, along with TikTok, were banned and removed from the digital content store App Store.

Notably, Apple has removed several other apps from the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns TikTok, from its store, including products that have become quite popular among Americans in recent months. The full list of apps removed from the App Store is as follows: TikTok, TikTok Studio, TikTok Shop Seller Center, CapCut, Lemon8, Hypic, Lark – Team Collaboration, Lark – Rooms Display, Lark Rooms Controller, Gauth: AI Study Companion and Marvel Snap.

In an accompanying document, Apple said that the company follows current legislation, which was the reason for blocking all the applications mentioned. “Apple is required to comply with the laws of the jurisdictions in which it operates. Pursuant to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Controlled Apps Act, apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. And its subsidiaries, including TikTok, CapCut, Lemon 8 and others, will no longer be available for download or update on the App Store for US users starting January 19, 2025,” Apple said in a statement.

It also said that people traveling from other countries to the US whose App Store is listed in a different region will not be able to update or make purchases from ByteDance apps. This means that people visiting the US will not be able to fully interact with ByteDance’s services until they leave the country.
