This week, Apple announced the start of sales of spare parts and components for self-repair of the iPhone 16e smartphone. They are available in the company’s stores in the United States and many European countries. Apple also published a full repair guide for the iPhone 16e on its website. Spare parts and manuals for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro smartphones will be available from November 2024.

Parts and tools are available to replace the iPhone 16e display, battery, cameras, back glass, speakers, and other components yourself. For an additional $49, Apple offers customers a week-long rental of an iPhone repair toolkit.
Launched in 2022, Apple’s DIY repair program gives customers access to genuine parts, tools, and manuals to repair select iPhones and Macs, Studio displays, and Beats Pill speakers. Apple says the program is “designed for people who have experience with complex electronics repair issues.”
Additionally, Apple customers will be able to complete the system setup process after a self-repair by putting the device into diagnostic mode and following the on-screen instructions. Users will no longer need to contact the program’s support team to complete this step, which verifies the authenticity and functionality of the components.
Do-it-yourself iPhone repairs have become less risky thanks to the gradual improvement of Apple’s repairability. Do-it-yourself repairs are also cheaper than going to a service center, especially when using used parts, which is now officially supported by Apple.
