The localization program for the production of Apple electronic devices in India is gradually covering not only all of the company’s main contractors, but also an increasing range of products. According to Bloomberg, Taiwan’s Foxconn should begin assembling Apple AirPods wireless headphones in southern India early next year.

Devices of this type will be assembled in India for the first time. Foxconn will operate a new facility for this purpose near Hyderabad, the capital of the southern state of Telangana. AirPods will be launched here in the first quarter of next year. Moreover, trial production of wireless headphones has already been launched at this factory, and if necessary, it can be quickly scaled up.
In addition to headphones, only iPhones will be assembled in significant volumes in India, if we talk about the range of localized Apple products. In the global wireless headphone market as of the second quarter of this year, Apple had a 22% share with 16.8 million units shipped, according to Canalys. From March to September, iPhone exports from India grew by about a third, reaching $6 billion in monetary terms. Last year, the Indian division of Jabil began producing cases for AirPods, which it exported to China and Vietnam. Starting next year, it will be possible to assemble the Apple AirPods headphones themselves in India, but the bulk of them will be exported in the foreseeable future.
