Apple, which was previously forced to delay the release of advanced artificial intelligence features for its Siri voice assistant, has decided to speed up work on them and introduce Siri with Apple Intelligence support this fall, the New York Times reported.

In early March, Apple admitted that it would take longer than expected to add personalization features to Siri, and that the launch of these features had to be delayed until next year. But now The New York Times, citing its own sources, reports that the company plans to release an updated version of Siri this fall. “Apple has not canceled its updated Siri. The company plans to introduce the virtual assistant this fall, which will be able to do things like edit and send a photo to a friend on request,” the newspaper reported, citing three people familiar with the matter.
Apple showed off Siri’s new capabilities at WWDC last June. They can be roughly divided into three categories: personal context, on-screen understanding, and improved integration with apps. Personal context means Siri will be able to analyze email, messages, files, photos, and other data — by studying the user’s interactions with contacts, AI will help organize information and solve everyday problems. For example, you can ask Siri to show you files that one of your contacts sent you last week; find an email that mentioned hockey; find books that were recommended; or show you a recipe you received.
The virtual assistant will learn to understand what is happening on the device screen: for example, Siri will be able to add the sent address to the contact card, and send the viewed photo to the desired recipient. Finally, AI will receive deep integration with applications and the ability to manage them: move files between programs, edit and send images, plot a route home and notify the selected contact about the arrival time, and also send a draft letter.
Currently, new Siri features include support for text-based communication, an updated interface, integration with ChatGPT, and improved understanding of natural speech.
