Another Nvidia partner has raised the price of the GeForce RTX 5090 — the cheapest one now costs $2700, but it is impossible to buy

Asus, MSI, and Zotac have one thing in common: these Nvidia partners offer direct sales of graphics cards in their official online stores in the US. As VideoCardz writes, the companies also have one thing in common: they don’t seem interested in selling accelerators at the recommended prices announced by Nvidia, since each of these manufacturers increased the prices of the cards after their launch.

The reasons for the price increases could depend on a variety of factors, including supply issues, rising production costs, a weaker dollar, or new import tariffs on shipments from China. According to VideoCardz, many of these factors were predictable.

Zotac’s most affordable version of its flagship GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, the RTX 5090 Solid OC, is now reportedly listed for $2,700 on its store, $700 above Nvidia’s suggested retail price announced in January of this year. The irony is that you can’t buy the card for $2,700 from Zotac anyway, because it’s out of stock.

Previously, the manufacturer offered a scheme for purchasing video cards without markups for verified members of its community in social networks within a special queue. However, as practice has shown, there were a minimum number of sales under this scheme.

It later turned out that Zotac had created a separate Discord group, where the brand’s most dedicated fans were offered an even more direct way to purchase the graphics card at the stated price. However, this method also turned out to be more of a formality. For example, during one of these sales, the manufacturer offered only three RTX 5080 cards, while the number of people willing to buy them was significantly higher.

As VideoCardz points out, Zotac has done minimal work to help gamers buy their graphics cards, let alone offer them at the recommended prices. Unfortunately, none of Nvidia’s major partners have yet offered a real way to sell RTX 50-series cards to casual gamers who don’t have significant funds or high involvement in their Discord groups, but just want to buy the cards at the prices advertised in reviews.
