Google released Android 15 at the beginning of the month, but only for developers – the new version of the software platform is still not available to consumers. Now it has become known that owners of compatible Google Pixel smartphones will be able to update their devices starting October 15.
Google usually releases updates on Mondays, but October 14 is Columbus Day in the United States, so the developers decided to delay the launch of Android 15 to the day after the holiday. It is possible that the Android 15 rollout date may be pushed back if some serious flaws are discovered that need to be fixed.
If everything goes according to plan, then owners of branded Google smartphones will be able to install Android 15 on October 15. The software platform is compatible with Pixel 6 and newer smartphones. For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones, Android 15 will be the last major update to the software platform.
It is still unknown when Android 15 will start appearing on smartphones from other manufacturers. This will likely depend on how quickly manufacturers are ready to distribute the new OS version to compatible devices.
