This week, Apple announced the date of its annual WWDC conference, where it will unveil iOS 19 to the public. It is expected to be one of the company’s biggest software updates in its history. Earlier, Prosser shared images that he claimed showed the interface of the updated Camera and Messages apps that will appear in iOS 19. According to the blogger, the previously published mockups and the visual materials presented in the new video are based on the actual design of iOS 19 apps. However, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman said that the mockups published by the blogger are missing key details.
In a new video, Prosser outlined some of the design features that users can expect in iOS 19. Specifically, he noted that the new version of the system’s “glass” design is inspired by the look of visionOS, the software platform used in Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The new style is said to feature a “more rounded aesthetic and a glossy, almost glassy look,” in which the edges of interface elements appear to protrude from the screen. For example, the keyboard in the new design “appears to float.”
At the end of the video, Prosser added that the version of iOS 19 he saw does not use round app icons on the home screen. However, he emphasized that changes are possible before the official release, and Apple may add round icons.
In turn, Mark Gurman stated that the images published by the blogger do not correspond to what Apple will show at WWDC. In his opinion, these mockups are based “either on very old builds or on vague descriptions that lacked key features.” The journalist is sure that Apple will present something more than Prosser showed.
