An era has passed: Dell got rid of the XPS, Inspiron, Latitude and Precision brands

Dell used this year’s CES in Las Vegas to unveil a new, simpler naming scheme for its products, similar to how Apple names its devices. Dell has dropped its XPS, Inspiron, Latitude and Precision computer brands.

Now all the company’s computers will be called Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max, and each of these lines will be divided into Base, Plus and Premium subgroups. The changes will not affect only the Alienware brand, under which gaming equipment is produced. Dell-branded computers have modest computing resources and are designed, for example, for browsing the web. Dell Pro is aimed at business customers, and Dell Pro Max is a product with maximum performance and a corresponding price.

To illustrate the new nomenclature, Dell announced a number of products. 14- and 16-inch Dell Plus laptops received Intel Core Ultra processors, up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of built-in storage. Dell Pro Base laptops are available in 13- and 14-inch models on Intel Core and Core Ultra chips with 8 to 64 GB of RAM, up to 2 TB of storage and pre-installed Windows 11 or Ubuntu Linux operating systems. Three Dell Pro Plus laptops with screens of 13, 14 and 16 inches come exclusively with Intel Core Ultra processors.

Dell Pro models will be equipped with AMD Ryzen AI Pro chips – previously devices intended for corporate users were not equipped with processors from this manufacturer. For those looking for a mobile workstation, the manufacturer recommends Dell Pro Premium products, which offer up to 4 TB of built-in storage and professional Nvidia RTX 500 and 2000 graphics.
