An American store has revealed the price of the new GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory – more expensive than the original with GDDR6X

Announcing the GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory, Nvidia announced that the video card will hit store shelves in September. However, the manufacturer did not announce the exact start date of sales of the new version, nor its recommended cost. Recently, one of the versions of the GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory was listed in the assortment of a large Western retailer with a higher price than the original version of the RTX 4070 with GDDR6X memory.

We are talking about the Asus GeForce RTX 4070 GDDR6 Dual EVO model, announced a few days ago. The new product is almost identical to the original version of the RTX 4070 Dual EVO from the same manufacturer, except that it received 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with a speed of 20 Gbps per pin and a total bandwidth of 480 GB/s. Let us recall that the GDDR6X memory in the RTX 4070 Dual EVO has a speed of 21 Gbps per pin and a bandwidth of 504 GB/s.

Nvidia claims that the performance of different versions of the card will be practically the same, but since there are no reviews of the new RTX 4070 model with GDDR6 memory yet, it is impossible to confirm this statement.

According to Newegg, the price of the Asus GeForce RTX 4070 GDDR6 Dual EVO is $569, which is lower than the recommended price of the original GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6X at the start of sales, which was offered for $599. It should be clarified that Nvidia reduced the recommended price of the original RTX 4070 with GDDR6X memory in January of this year to $549. Thus, the RTX 4070 with slower memory is priced higher.

The new card has not yet appeared on sale. The store also did not indicate the start date of sales. The retailer also offered a white version of the RTX 4070 GDDR6 Dual EVO worth $554. Asus graphics cards are often priced higher than their competitors, so Newegg’s published price may not reflect the recommended cost of the new RTX 4070 with GDDR6.

As VideoCardz writes, Nvidia does not force partners to indicate the type of memory used on the packaging of RTX 4070 video cards. Fortunately, most retailers usually provide this information. Asus also decided to indicate this data on the packaging of its new RTX 4070.
