AMD said Ryzen 9000 “does not meet expectations” and delayed the start of sales until August

AMD has announced that it will delay the start of sales of the latest Ryzen 9000 desktop processors until August. This explains the delay in the delivery of samples of new processors to specialized media for the preparation of reviews, which was previously reported.

Initially, the start of sales of Ryzen 9000 processors based on the Zen 5 architecture was scheduled for July 31. Today AMD announced that the first batches of processors already delivered to retailers “do not meet expectations.” For this reason, AMD has postponed the launch of the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X to August 8. In turn, the older models Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X are expected to be on sale from August 15.

According to the KitGuru portal, AMD clarified that the problem with the chips is not related to their ability to overclock RAM, despite rumors that are currently circulating in some media. However, AMD did not specify where exactly the processors do not meet the company’s expectations.

«We appreciate the high level of interest in the Ryzen 9000 processors. During our latest reviews, we concluded that the first batches of chips produced that have already been shipped to our channel partners do not fully meet our quality expectations. Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the highest quality experience for every Ryzen user, we are working with our channel partners to replace the first units of processors with new ones. As a result, a slight delay in the availability of chips is expected. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will be available on August 8th, while the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X will be available on August 15th. We are proud to provide a high-quality user experience to every Ryzen processor owner, and we look forward to our fans having a great experience with the new Ryzen 9000 series processors,” AMD said in an official statement.

AMD has not yet provided information on the cost of the new processors.
