AMD Ryzen 9000X3D will be 2-13% faster than predecessors in games, according to MSI tests

MSI revealed performance data for AMD Ryzen 9000X3D gaming processors to visitors to one of its offices in Shenzhen, China. The company showed test results for the eight-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

The demo only released three benchmarks for gaming workloads: Far Cry 6, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Black Myth: Wukong. In these tests, the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D was up to 13%, 4%, and 2% faster than the Ryzen 7000X3D, respectively. Cinebench R23 single-threaded and multi-threaded test results were also shown – they showed a significant increase in the speed of the new AMD X3D chips in standard workloads, especially in multi-threaded tests.

The results of measurements in non-gaming workloads for the latest generation Ryzen 9000X3D series processors and the main Ryzen 9000 line are interesting: 16-core chips based on AMD Zen 5 architecture showed approximately equal results in cases where V-Cache technology directly benefits. And in a comparison of 8-core processors, the model with the X3D index still turned out to be faster – perhaps due to the higher TDP out of the box.

MSI did not specify which AMD Ryzen 9000X3D chips were used in testing: market-ready models or engineering samples. It is unclear whether AMD has made any additional BIOS optimizations. The 13% performance boost for Far Cry 6 is impressive, but it remains to be seen how the new X3D performs in a wider range of games.
