AMD Releases Driver with Radeon RX 9070/RX 9070 XT Support, FSR 4, and AFMF 2.1 Frame Generator

AMD has released a fresh version of the Radeon Software Adrenalin 25.3.1 WHQL driver. The software adds support for the Radeon RX 9070 XT, Radeon RX 9070, Radeon RX 7650 GRE graphics cards, as well as the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, Ryzen AI Pro 300, and Ryzen 9000HX mobile processors.

The driver offers support for the new AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution 4 (AMD FSR 4) scaling technology, which is exclusive to the Radeon RX 9070 series of graphics cards. AMD FSR 4 includes a new update mode in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, which automatically updates supported games with built-in AMD FSR 3.1 support to use the new AMD FSR 4 machine learning-based scaling algorithm.

The new driver also includes a new version of the AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 frame generator. It is supported by the Radeon RX 6000, RX 7000, and RX 9070 series of graphics cards, as well as the integrated graphics of the Ryzen AI 300 processors. The latest driver also includes an AI chatbot feature. It can generate images, as well as answer questions about AMD hardware products and control key features in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.

The AMD Image Inspector feature in the driver uses artificial intelligence to analyze graphics quality, helping to improve image quality in games.

The new AMD Install Manager app for easy management of AMD software installations supports installation of AMD Chat and the latest graphics and chipset drivers. The app now includes the ability to “Automatically install the latest AMD Software updates,” allowing AMD Install Manager to download driver and software updates in the background.

The new AMD Radeon Image Sharpening 2 feature is available exclusively on Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards. The updated version offers sharper and more responsive image processing. In addition, the new version supports not only games but also videos and can be applied to the entire desktop.

In the latest driver, AMD added support for new games FragPunk and Split Fiction. It also implements AMD ROCm support on WSL for Radeon RX 7000 series cards and improves AI performance on Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards: Up to 70% faster performance of the Enhance Details feature in Adobe Lightroom; Up to 13% faster performance of the Noise Reduction feature in Adobe Lightroom; Up to 40% faster performance of tests in Topaz Photo AI; Up to 10% improved performance of AI features in DaVinci Resolve.

Updates for developers:

• Updated AMD RDNA 4 and RDNA 3.5 specifications to support ISAs (GPU instruction sets);
• The new AMD Advanced Interactive Streaming (AIS) SDK, which enables streaming to be transformed from a passive viewing experience into an interactive one. The AMD Advanced Media Framework (AMF) SDK has also been updated;
• AMD Radeon Developer Tool Suite (RDTS) update with upcoming support for AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series. Includes Driver Experiments tool for low-level control of driver settings.

The new driver has expanded the functionality of the HYPR-RX utility. HYPR-Tune now supports automatic tuning of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 technologies. Added automatic tuning of AMD FSR with frame generation in: Farming Simulator 25, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and Silent Hill 2.

List of fixed issues:

• Fixed HEVC encoding when using OBS Studio with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting;
• Fixed rare driver crashes in the game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on some AMD video cards (for example, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370);
• Fixed performance in the game Delta Force on Radeon RX 7000 video cards;
• Fixed occasional stuttering in Marvel Rivals when AMD FSR 3 frame generation was enabled.

List of known issues:

• After installing the driver, you may experience reduced YouTube performance in the Microsoft Edge browser. To fix the problem, it is recommended to restart the browser;
• Third-party tools that use the ADL SDK to determine the number of ROPs may incorrectly display 64 ROPs. AMD is working on a fix in a future driver update.
• In Counter-Strike 2, with MSAA x8 enabled on Radeon RX 9070 Series video cards, incorrect gamma display may be observed;
• When playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with the quality settings “Very Ultra” and Path Tracing enabled, the game may crash. As a temporary solution, it is recommended to use the standard Ray Tracing settings;
• After using AMD Cleanup Utility during installation of a new driver on AMD Ryzen 7000 and higher processors with AMD graphics cards, the AMD Bug Report Tool window may periodically appear;
• After completing the driver update, some notebooks may experience intermittent failures to launch the integrated webcam. In this case, it is recommended to use the AMD Cleanup Utility for Windows and use the previous recommended driver available here.
• Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL 2) support limitations can be found here.
