AMD Introduces Radeon Image Sharpening 2, an AI Feature That Makes Any Video or Game on Your PC Screen Look Sharper

Along with the announcement of the next-generation Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards, AMD also unveiled its new Adrenalin drivers, version 25.3.1. Along with a host of other AI-powered features, the new drivers offer Radeon Image Sharpening 2 (RIS 2), an AI-powered image sharpening tool.

Radeon Image Sharpening 2 is an AI-powered tool that will sharpen any image on your computer screen. The tool will initially be available on AMD’s latest graphics cards with RDNA 4 GPUs — AMD hasn’t said whether it will be available on older graphics cards yet. AMD says the feature delivers “stronger, more responsive sharpening” than its previous first-generation AMD RIS technology.

Using intelligent sharpening technology, RIS 2 can enhance the clarity of games, videos, and anything else on your computer screen. At the same time, RIS 2’s scope of application has been expanded to display any content, whereas the original RIS was limited to web browsers, certain applications, and games using specific graphics APIs.
