AMD introduced Ryzen AI Pro 300 processors for corporate laptops

AMD introduced Ryzen AI Pro 300 mobile processors for laptops used in the corporate sector. Like the regular Ryzen AI 300, the Pro version of the chips is manufactured using a 4nm process technology, equipped with Zen 5 and Zen 5c cores, as well as integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics.

Compared to its Zen 4-based predecessors, the Ryzen Pro 8040 series, which offered up to eight processing cores, the new Ryzen AI Pro 300 offers configurations of up to 12 Zen 5 cores (four Zen 5 cores and up to eight Zen 5c cores), as well as a maximum frequency of 5. 0 to 5.1 GHz.

Ryzen AI Pro 300 also features an AI engine (NPU) based on the second generation XDNA architecture, delivering up to 55 TOPS (trillion operations per second) performance in Int8 computing. The predecessor NPU provides 16 TOPS performance. According to AMD, the improved NPU performance will benefit enterprise applications that use large language model (LLM) technologies.

Pro versions differ from regular AMD processors in an expanded set of security systems (Pro Security, Pro Manageability, and Pro Business Ready) aimed at protecting corporate information. Pro Security technology offers features such as Cloud Bare Metal Recovery (cMBR), Supply Chain Security (AMD Device Identity) and Watchdog Timers, which help recover the system in the event of a CPU hang.

AMD says the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 delivers 9% faster performance than the Intel Core Ultra 7 165U vPro in office applications. In turn, the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 375 is up to 14% faster than the Core Ultra 7 165H vPro model. In the synthetic Cinebench R24 test, AMD’s new products are up to 30 and 40%, respectively, faster than their competitors.

As for the characteristics of the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 375 and Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 models, they are completely identical to the non-Pro versions. Both processors offer 12 cores with support for 24 virtual threads. The NPU of the older model has a performance of 55 TOPS, while the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 has an AI engine performance of 50 TOPS. The chips do not differ in integrated graphics – this is the Radeon 890M with 16 execution units.

In turn, the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360 received 8 cores with support for 16 threads. For comparison, the Ryzen AI 9 365 has 10 cores with support for 20 threads. The NPU performance of the Pro version is the same – 50 TOPS. “Integrated” – Radeon 890M with 12 execution units. All Ryzen AI Pro 300 processors have a dynamic TDP from 15 to 54 W.

The first laptop models based on Ryzen AI Pro 300 are expected in November. All are expected to meet the requirements of the Copilot Plus PC platform. However, the bulk of laptops based on these processors will appear no earlier than 2025.
