AMD has released the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U mobile processor exclusively for the Chinese market. The chip was discovered as part of a fresh Lenovo ThinkPad 14s AI 2024 laptop.

In October, AMD introduced a new generation of Ryzen AI 300 PRO mobile processors based on Zen 5 architecture – special versions of Strix Point series chips designed for business laptops. These processors are essentially identical to consumer non-PRO options, but have an additional layer of security and features that businesses may require. The Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U was not introduced along with the rest of the Ryzen AI 300 PRO series processors. This chip was released specifically for the Chinese market.
AMD has previously released exclusive processor models for Lenovo, which were most often not offered in products from other manufacturers. The Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U model appears to be a power-efficient version of the regular Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 with a variable TDP from 15 to 54 W. Lenovo does not specify the power consumption of the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U chip in its advertising materials. It may have a fixed power consumption rating. How else it differs from the regular Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 is unknown. The eight-core, 16-thread Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U runs at up to 5.0 GHz, has 24 MB of cache, integrated Radeon 880M graphics and an AI engine (NPU) with 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second) performance. The regular Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 offers the same characteristics.
It should be noted that the ThinkPad 14s AI 2024, which uses the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360U, uses the old chassis design that Lenovo used in models based on previous generations of Ryzen 7 7840U/8840U processors. The laptop is equipped with a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM and a 1 TB solid-state drive. The device also received a 58 Wh battery, support for Wi-Fi 7 (unlike its predecessor with Wi-Fi 6E) and two Thunderbolt 4 interfaces.
The price of Lenovo ThinkPad 14s AI 2024 in China is 9999 yuan (about $1370).
