AMD boasted that its powerful integrated graphics in Strix Halo chips are faster than the GeForce RTX 4070 in games

AMD shared the fresh results of testing the flagship mobile processor Ryzen Ai Max+ 395 and its built -in graphics by Radeon 8060S in various games. The chip was presented at the CES 2025 exhibition as part of the new Strix Halo mobile chips series, which are distinguished by productive built -in graphics.

Recall that AMD Strix Halo series processors use a combination of Zen 5 computing cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture. The processors consist of three chiplets: two CCD blocks with computing cores and an IOD chiplet with integrated graphics. The crystals are united by a new generation Infinity Fabric bus. Strix Halo received a new memory controller with a bandwidth of up to 256 GB/s. In addition, they are equipped with a new neural processor based on XDNA 2 architecture, providing AI performance of 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

The Ryzen Ai Max+ 395, which AMD used for comparative gaming tests, contains 16 nuclei with support for 32 virtual flows. The chip operates in the frequency range from 3.0 to 5.1 GHz, received 16 MB Kesh-Mamaty L2, 64 MB Kesha L3 and configured TDP from 42 to 120 watts. The built -in schedule Radeon 8060S of the processor contains 40 executive blocks on the architecture of the RDNA 3.5 and operates at a frequency of up to 2900 MHz.

AMD shared some benchmarks of the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 back during CES 2025, but in new promotional materials the company compares the performance of the processor and its integrated graphics with the discrete mobile graphics card GeForce RTX 4070. The latter was tested as part of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet based on Intel Core i9-13900H. Games ran in the native screen resolution of 1080p with high quality settings. The tests did not use upscaling technologies or frame generators. The AMD chip operated at a locked TDP of 55W.

In all 17 gaming tests, Ryzen AI Max+ 395 outperformed the combination of the Core i9-13900H and GeForce RTX 4070. From the published chart it follows that the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and its “built-in” Radeon 8060 provided performance 50% higher in some tests than competitor. The lead in Borderlands 3 was a whopping 68% in favor of the AMD system.

On average, the Radeon 8060 was 23.2% faster than the discrete RTX 4070. This is impressive and also indicates that AMD’s integrated graphics have achieved performance that can rival competitive discrete mobile graphics.
