AI will surpass human intelligence within two to three years, Anthropic CEO is confident

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos about the sharp increase in demand for AI products. He expects Anthropic to have more than 1 million processors to support AI technologies in 2026. Amodei predicts that AI will surpass human intelligence in the next few years and expects both positive and negative consequences.

Anthropic is at the center of the ongoing race to create the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence technology. “The surge in demand we have seen over the past year, and especially over the past three months, has outpaced our ability to provide the necessary computing,” Amodei said. According to him, the company’s revenue grew tenfold last year.

In the near future, Anthropic plans to attract another round of investments in the amount of $2 billion, with the company’s market value of $60 billion. Amodei is confident that the increase in funding will improve the performance of AI and remove the limitations that users of the chatbot Claude developed by Anthropic currently often face. Amodei expects the company to have more than 1 million processors powered by Anthropic’s artificial intelligence technology in 2026.

In November, Anthropic announced strategic partnerships with Amazon Web Services and Palantir Technologies. The goal of this collaboration is to provide Claude models to US defense and intelligence agencies. AI companies are increasingly partnering with government agencies to provide their technology to support national security.

Anthropic expects to release more advanced AI models in the coming months. Anthropic’s plans include web integration, two-way voice mode, and Claude memory optimization to save information about users and previous conversations with them.

Anthropic’s main competitor, OpenAI, has added similar features to its ChatGPT chatbot. Both companies aim to make their AI assistants more intuitive, interactive and capable of personalized, long-term learning.

Amodei is confident that AI technologies will surpass human intelligence in the next two to three years. “The positive impacts will be great,” he said. “We will also have to guard against negative consequences.” I think progress is really as fast as people think.”

Amodei’s forecast matches the views of other technology leaders. Previously, Elon Musk predicted that AI could overtake the human mind as early as 2025, and by 2029, surpass the collective intelligence of humanity. Musk also predicted that AI would put doctors and lawyers out of business after OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 outperformed medical professionals in diagnosing diseases.
