Adobe to Bring Creative AI Agents to Photoshop and Premiere Pro

Adobe is working on introducing AI agents into the graphics editor Photoshop and video editor Premiere Pro. The agents will not only be able to suggest editing options for images and videos, but also automatically apply them, Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s chief technology officer for digital media, reported in his blog.

In Photoshop, a new AI agent called the Creative Agent will be available through a new floating Actions panel. This tool will be able to analyze an image and suggest edits, such as removing unnecessary objects in the background or artistically blurring the background. To apply the changes, the user will only need to confirm the selected option, The Verge notes.

While experienced Photoshop users have traditionally preferred to manually edit objects, work with layers, and make detailed edits, Adobe has begun to introduce AI tools, including Generative Fill for filling or adding pixels to an image, and Distraction Removal for removing unnecessary objects.

In the future, users will be able to give the agent commands in natural language, which will make it easier to master complex operations (although the AI ​​will be able to perform them independently). In this case, it will be possible to either adjust the agent’s work or edit layers manually as usual.

As for Premiere Pro, Adobe continues to develop its recently introduced Media Intelligence technology. It can already analyze video and help find the right fragments. In the future, the AI ​​agent will be able to perform rough editing at the user’s request.

«While AI won’t replace human creative vision, it can offer smart ideas that will speed up a project, Greenfield said. “It can also teach you how to do complex tasks in a few clicks, helping you grow as an editor.” Going forward, Agent for Premiere Pro will be able to select optimal shots, correct color, adjust audio, and more, including the recently introduced Generative Extend tool, which automatically adds a few seconds to a clip for a smooth transition.

The technology behind Photoshop’s first AI agent will be unveiled at Adobe Max in London on April 24.
