Adobe has updated the content search feature in Premiere Pro with AI-powered visual recognition tools. Now, to find the desired video clip from the selection, it is enough to describe its content in words. This is just one of the new features Adobe is adding to Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Frame.io to improve the experience for users, content creators, and video editors.

A natural language search query might look like “man on ice skates with lens flare” or “happy fisherman catching huge catfish.” Adobe says the AI can automatically recognize “objects, locations, camera angles, and more” along with spoken words, as long as the video has a transcript attached to it.
The new search tool doesn’t recognize audio in a video clip or identify specific people, but it can look at any metadata attached to video files, allowing you to retrieve clips based on filming dates, location and camera model. Media analysis is performed on the device and does not require an Internet connection. Adobe ensures that user video content is not used to train any AI models.
Along with the updated search, Adobe launched a subtitle translation tool that currently supports 17 languages. To make it easier to view and edit multiple translations at once, you can open multiple subtitle tracks at once in Premiere Pro. The AI-enabled search bar and subtitle translation are available starting today in Premiere Pro beta, available to anyone with an active Creative Cloud or Premiere Pro subscription.
Adobe After Effects now includes HDR support and a new caching system that makes previewing or playing back large projects much faster. Both RAM and PC disk cache are now used to improve performance. Adobe says this will allow older computers and laptops to render large projects without delays “for caching or rendering.” New features are now available in the beta version of After Effects.
Frame.io Camera to Cloud now supports integration with the Canon C80 and C400 cameras, allowing you to automatically upload files to the app directly from the camera. To use this feature, camera owners need to update their firmware to the latest version released in December 2024.
