Adobe Opens Text-Based Video Generator to Everyone and Launches Paid Subscription to Firefly AI

Adobe has announced the start of open beta testing of the Firefly Video generator, which was introduced last fall. You can try it out in the new Firefly section of the company’s website. Other AI-based tools are also available here, but now by subscription.

Initially, the video generator was available as a feature called Generative Extend in the Premiere Pro beta video editor, adding small snippets to the beginning or end of footage. Now, there’s a new tool called Generate Video that creates video from a text description or a static image. Options are available to change or direct the AI’s output: mimic styles, choose camera position, camera movement, and distance from the subject.

Previously, the generator created videos in 720p resolution, now 1080p at 24 frames per second is supported. The maximum duration of the generated video is 5 seconds, and the creation of a video takes from 90 seconds. Adobe is also developing additional versions of the system: one will offer a lower resolution and will be used for “creating ideas”, and another will be able to generate 4K videos. Both versions are expected to appear soon.

The company has also updated the Firefly site’s generative AI tools section, with an improved user interface and integration with Creative Cloud apps including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Express, making it easier to transfer and edit your creations. Scene to Image, a feature that lets you use 3D objects or sketches as input to generate images, has entered beta testing. Adobe first introduced the technology in October under the name Project Scenic. Translate Audio and Video offers translations from more than 20 languages ​​using original voices.

Adobe Firefly is now available as a subscription. Firefly Standard, at $9.99 per month, includes 2,000 credits, enough to generate up to 20 five-second 1080p videos. Firefly Pro starts at $29.99 and includes 7,000 credits, enough to create up to 70 videos. Unlimited raster and vector graphics editing is available to Firefly subscribers.
