Adobe has come up with editing without reshooting: Premiere Pro 25.2 has received AI that will add missing frames to a video

Adobe has released version 25.2 of its Premiere Pro video editor, which makes tools for searching, translating, and enhancing videos using artificial intelligence available to every user. The most notable innovation is the Generative Extend tool, based on Adobe Firefly’s generative model, which allows you to extend the length of an already shot video or background sounds from it.

Generative Extend lets you extend the length of a 4K video by two seconds, giving you more room to make edits and transitions, or fix unexpected movements without having to reshoot the footage. It can also extend the duration of background sounds in a video by up to ten seconds for audio only, or up to two seconds for audio and video.

According to Adobe, Generative Extend is free for a “limited time,” after which Firefly credits will be required to use the tool. Adobe hasn’t specified how many credits Generative Extend will ultimately consume, but says “pricing will vary based on the format, frame rate, and resolution of your video.” A Creative Cloud subscription can purchase 2,000 Firefly credits for $10.

The new version of Premiere Pro also includes an AI-powered search bar that automatically recognizes the content of clips in a user’s video library. This allows footage to be searched using text queries that can describe objects, locations, angles, and effects, such as “close-ups of hands working in a kitchen.”

The new Premiere Color Management feature supports RAW and log formats from virtually all cameras. It automatically converts raw media files to your chosen color space using high-precision tone mapping, resulting in better image processing, improved monitoring, and faster exports.

Premiere Pro can now use AI to automatically translate subtitles into 27 different languages, with the ability to process multiple subtitle tracks simultaneously.

According to Adobe, the new version of Premiere Pro delivers better speed and performance on both Apple Silicon and Windows devices.

Launching alongside the new Premiere Pro version is After Effects 25.2, which adds support for HDR monitoring, animation controls, FBX 3D models, and animated ambient lighting effects. Fast previews are also available, using a new caching system that leverages both RAM and fast storage.
