Acer has decided to produce consumer power supplies. The manufacturer presented its first PSU model, the Predator GX850 with a power of 850 W. The new product offers a fully modular cable connection design, complies with the ATX 3.0 standard and is 80 Plus Gold certified. The power supply is made in a compact SFX form factor.

The new product complies with the PCIe 5.1 power standard and is equipped with one 12+4-pin 12VHPWR power connector for video cards that support it. Competitors such as Corsair are releasing new series of power supplies certified according to the ATX 3.1 standard, which implies the use of an updated, but fully compatible with the old connector, 12V-2×6 power connector.

The Predator GX850 PSU uses high-quality Japanese capacitors designed to operate at temperatures up to 105 degrees Celsius. The new product is equipped with a 90 mm fan that does not rotate if the system load does not exceed 20%. As for the efficiency of the power supply, its efficiency is 90% at 50% load.

The power supply has various protection systems, including over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-power protection (OPP), short circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage protection and overheating (OTP). Perhaps the negative point is the warranty, which is only 2 years.

The Acer Predator GX850 SFX power supply has already appeared in the assortment of various European and American stores. The cost of new items varies from 130 to 140 dollars.
