A new leak has revealed what gameplay improvements the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will receive

The MP1st portal, citing information from the website of a former employee of the Virtuos studio, shared new details of the rumored remake of the cult role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from Bethesda Game Studios.

The name of the mentioned ex-Virtuos employee is not disclosed, but it is reported that he worked on the project in 2023-2024 and has Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Call of Duty: Warzone and other games in his portfolio.

Due to an error made by a specialist, the MP1st editors gained access to information about significant gameplay improvements that the remake will offer compared to the original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

As MP1st reports, as part of the project, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be “completely redesigned” on Unreal Engine 5. Previously it was reported that the original Gamebryo engine was supposed to be responsible for gameplay and physics.

Also on the website of an ex-Virtuos employee there were details of six gameplay systems that will be reworked in the new version:

  • Blocking blows – inspired by Souls fighters and ACT games (what exactly is meant by this abbreviation is unclear), since the old mechanics were “boring and annoying”;
  • Endurance – designed so that the player is less nervous, and an exhausted hero is more difficult to knock down;
  • Stealth – indication of the level of stealth will become more clear;
  • Archery – will become convenient when playing from both the first and third person;
  • Reaction to receiving damage – added for the player and NPCs. In addition, damage calculation methods have been reworked;
  • Interface – will be made more intuitive and pleasing to the eye for “young players”.

According to insider Nate the Hate, the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is currently set for release in June. However, you shouldn’t expect a game at the upcoming Developer_Direct presentation.

Meanwhile, modders from TESRenewal are preparing for release in 2025 their remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Skyblivion on the The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim engine. The mod will be free, but will require legal copies of both games.
