A large American retailer announced the date of the start of sales of the AMD series of the Radeon RX 9070 series

One of the most famous American retailers, B&H, announced that it will begin accepting pre-orders for new Radeon RX 9070 series video cards from March 23. The same retailer previously suggested that the launch of new products based on the RDNA 4 architecture was originally scheduled for January 23. It is curious that there is also indirect confirmation of this.

It looks like AMD decided to change its plans regarding the launch of the new Radeon RX 9070 series video cards at the last minute. And now eager gamers will have to wait for them for at least another two and a half months. It is very interesting that the official AMD channel on the Reddit forum published a message indicating “the ability to play on Radeon RX 9000 video cards now.”

The message is duplicated in different languages. Apparently, after the last changes in the AMD plans, her PR team simply forgot to replace these images.

Recent rumors and leaks hint that the older model of the Radeon RX 9070 XT video card based on RDNA 4 architecture is able to offer performance level of the GeForce RTX 4080 Super, at least in pure raster graphics. According to the same rumors, the video cards use a Navi 48 graphics processor with an area of 390 mm2, which is almost two times smaller than the area of the monstrous GB202 in the flagship GeForce RTX 5090, reviews of the reference version of which were recently published.

Earlier, AMD explained why she did not introduce new cards at the CES 2025 exhibition at the beginning of this month. The time of the 45-minute presentation allotted for the announcements of the new AMD products was not enough for the full announcement of the new RDNA 4 graphic architecture, new video cards based on it, as well as to show the new FSR 4 technology.

The company later added that it delayed the launch in order to take additional time to optimize new software that will be used by the new graphics cards. However, the real reason is most likely AMD’s desire to ensure an acceptable level of graphics card inventory at the start of sales. Apparently, the company also wants to see the market reaction to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 models, which are expected to launch in February. And in accordance with this, AMD will be able to adjust the prices of its new products. The cost of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 is still unknown.
