Last November, 8BitDo released the Retro 87 transparent mechanical keyboard in the style of the classic Xbox gaming console and the Retro R8 wireless mouse to match. The brand often borrows the visual language of old cult devices in its solutions, mainly from the 80s and 90s. This time, the company decided to present the Retro R8 mouse in the style of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) gaming console.

The device stands out with its usual NES aesthetics of beige, white and gray tones, as well as red buttons. The wireless mouse Retro R8 N Edition uses a PAW 3395 optical sensor with six adjustable sensitivity levels – from 50 to 26,000 DPI. The mouse polling rate can also be adjusted – from 125 to 8000 Hz. The main buttons are equipped with Kailh Sword GM X microswitches with a resource of up to 100 million clicks.

The mouse has a 450 mAh battery, a full charge of which is enough for up to 100 hours of operation when connecting the device via Bluetooth. However, when connected via a 2.4 GHz radio channel with a lower charge delay, the battery will last from 26 to 105 hours, depending on the selected sensor polling frequency.

Pre-orders for the wireless mouse are already being accepted. The Retro R8 N Edition costs $49.99. Deliveries of the device will begin on May 22. The kit includes a charging dock, which also acts as a signal amplifier. The new product can be a great addition to the original Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard or its smaller version, also made in the NES style.
