$800 Roto VR Explorer VR Chair Unveiled for Meta Quest Headset

London-based company Roto VR has proposed a solution for emulating movement in virtual space – the Explorer swivel chair for $799. This is the first product of its kind to be labeled “Made for Meta✴”.

The installation is designed for applications and games that require a 360-degree view in virtual space – the manufacturer claims that it has managed to solve the problem of motion sickness. This is probably because the movements of the chair are synchronized with what the user’s eyes see, and the likelihood of unpleasant sensations is low – they may arise due to a breakdown in communication between the brain and the body.

The Roto VR Explorer looks like a standard swivel chair on wheels, but it features a multi-level backrest and a massive base that vaguely resembles a compass. The system features haptic feedback for added immersion, and Roto has promised to release modular accessories for some of the more than four hundred games it’s compatible with.

The company was founded in 2015 by British entrepreneur Elliott Myers and is led by experienced professionals in the field of games, technology and engineering. Pre-orders for the Roto VR Explorer chair are being accepted now, with deliveries expected to begin in October 2024.
