Historically, the need for large amounts of memory has been more active in server systems and workstations, so memory module manufacturers have primarily satisfied the needs of these market segments, leaving the PC direction for later. In the case of DDR5 modules, 64 GB strips for regular PCs have only recently appeared on sale.

At least, this is what can be judged by the publication of the Japanese resource Akiba PC Hotline, which has been keeping traditions for decades, telling about the new products of the famous local electronics market promptly and with illustrations. Japanese photo reporters managed to record the fact of the appearance in local retail of DDR5-5600 memory kits with a capacity of 2 × 64 GB manufactured by Crucial, suitable for use in desktop PCs.

As you know, the American company Micron Technology produces memory modules and solid-state drives under the Crucial brand. The manufacturer currently offers DDR5-5600 kits of two 64-GB modules in UDIMM and SO-DIMM formats.

In Japan, where imported electronics are traditionally subject to high tariffs, a set of UDIMM modules costs more than $322. The memory offers CL46-45-45 latencies and is compatible with 14th-generation Intel Core Ultra processors and AMD Ryzen 8000 or newer processors. Intel XMP and AMD Expo functions respectively provide quick selection of the optimal operating mode in terms of performance, with two profiles in each (DDR5-5600 and DDR5-5200).
