US President Donald Trump is set to extend the suspension of TikTok’s ban in the country once again. He previously delayed the restrictions on April 4 to give the company, potential US buyers and Chinese authorities more time to negotiate, but there has been little progress on a deal since then.

The current extension expires on June 19, but the state of negotiations between the US and China suggests an agreement is unlikely to be reached by then, Engadget reports, citing The Wall Street Journal. The situation is also complicated by the Trump administration’s fluctuating tariff policies.

It is noted that bilateral trade talks may resume in the coming weeks, but the issue of a possible sale of the American version of TikTok has not been officially raised. Oracle, which already cooperates with TikTok as a cloud provider, remains among the contenders for participation in the deal.

Recall that the ban on TikTok came into effect on January 19, 2025. The company tried to challenge it in court, but the US Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision. In response, Trump issued the first executive order suspending the ban on January 20, 2025.
