Microsoft has begun testing a new feature in Windows 11 that will allow you to install apps from the Microsoft Store through the standard Windows search. On the one hand, this is done for convenience, on the other, it can lead to undesirable consequences, such as installing unnecessary programs and clogging up disk space.

Previously, when entering the name of an application in Windows search, the system would either launch an already installed program or offer results from Bing if the application was not found. Now, if the desired application is available in the Microsoft Store, the user is immediately shown its card with a “Get” button, allowing the user to install the program in one click, bypassing the transition to the store itself, PCWorld explains.

According to the company, such integration will make installing apps faster and more convenient. However, experts point out potential risks. If the search starts offering inappropriate or unsuitable apps, this could irritate users and reduce trust in the built-in search in general.

To implement this feature, Microsoft will need to significantly improve the accuracy of search and content filtering. If successfully implemented, the innovation could make Windows 11 an even more convenient and modern system, combining the capabilities of artificial intelligence and an improved user experience.
