The cancellation of an unannounced game by Sony Interactive Entertainment management did not go unnoticed by the developers from Oregon-based Bend Studio, known for the Syphon Filter series of stealth action games and the open-world zombie action game Days Gone.

As a reminder, Bend Studio was working on a secret game-as-service until January, but as a result of another internal audit, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to stop production.

As Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier reports, Bend Studio has been laying off around 30% of its staff, or 40 employees, amid the cancellation of an unannounced project.

The good news is that, according to Schreier, Bend Studio is not in danger of closing at this stage: after the cancellation of the secret game-as-service, the studio has taken up the creation of a new project. There are no details about it.

Bend Studio was founded in 1992 and became part of PlayStation in 2000. The studio is best known for the Syphon Filter series, and the team’s latest release is the April remaster of Days Gone for PS5.
