Konami and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura, in an interview with IGN, commented on rumors about the release of the stealth action game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on new platforms.
Let us remember that MGS 4 was released in 2008 and has not appeared outside of the PS3 over the past 16 years, however, with the release of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 last fall there were rumors that the game could be re-released.
Firstly, a mention of MGS 4 was found in the Vol. 1; secondly, the code of the official website of the series hinted at the remaster, and thirdly, about Konami’s plans for Vol. 2 with MGS 4, Peace Walker and MGS V reported with reference to their sources at IGN.
When asked about the possible release of Metal Gear Solid 4 on modern platforms, Okamura replied: “We are aware of the situation with MGS 4, but we have nothing to say right now. Vol.1 contains MGS 1−3, dot dot dot… I think you understand where I’m going with this.”
«Currently, we within [Konami] are concerned about what to do with the series in the future. Unfortunately, we can’t announce anything at the moment, but stay tuned!” Okamura urged.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was released on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Nintendo Switch, so the inevitable, according to IGN, the second volume of the collection is expected on the same platforms.
Meanwhile, Konami is preparing to release Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of MGS 3: Snake Eater. The updated version is being created for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. There is no release date yet, but they promise to fix it by the end of the year.
