Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has taken to his microblog to assess the impact of the latest updates on the popularity of the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 and comment on the studio’s future developments.

As a reminder, the eighth patch released last week brought with it a number of expected features (crossplay, photo mode, 12 new subclasses) and became the last major update for Baldur’s Gate 3.
As IGN noted, amid the winding down of support, the peak online of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam jumped to 169 thousand people over the past weekend – a significant achievement for a single-player game in its second year of existence.

Vincke noted the performance of Baldur’s Gate 3. According to the head of Larian, thanks to the latest updates, including mod support, the game “will continue to feel confident for quite some time.”
«”I’m happy with where we are today with [Baldur’s Gate 3]. Patch 8 brought a lot of people back into the game. It took a lot of development effort, but I’m glad we did it,” Vincke said.

The success of Baldur’s Gate 3, in turn, will allow Larian to focus on “making our next big project as good as we can.” “We need to keep up the good work,” Vincke added.
It was previously reported that after Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian was working on “two extremely ambitious RPGs” (definitely not Baldur’s Gate 4). In October, Vincke joked (and then took it back) that the studio’s next game wouldn’t be released until 2029.
